In Poland, two suspects in the attack on Leonid Volkov were released from custody. It is unknown who paid bail for them

In Poland, Maximilian K. and Igor Ts., suspected of attacking politician Leonid Volkov in Vilnius in March 2024, were released on bail, the Agency reported, citing the Polish prosecutor's office.

On October 9, a court in Poland ruled that two suspects in the attack on Volkov could be released from custody on bail of 50 thousand zlotys ($12,700). The prosecutor's office was unable to appeal this decision. On October 11, bail was granted and the suspects were released, prohibiting them from leaving Poland and contacting other defendants in the case.

Volkov named the full names of the suspects who were released on bail: Maximilian Krol and Igor Tsikhorsky. The politician calls them “jocks.” As Gazeta Wyborcza previously reported , Krol is an MMA fighter and a fan of the Warsaw football club Legia.

“But I would, of course, like to know who paid this bail for them. 50 thousand zlotys (12.5 thousand euros) is not a lot of money, but Krol and Tsichorski do not look like people who are so easily ready to part with it,” the politician added.

• Leonid Volkov was attacked on March 12 near his home in Vilnius. After the attack, the politician was taken to the hospital with a broken arm and multiple bruises.
• In September, the FBK released an investigation alleging that the attack on Volkov was ordered by former Yukos top manager Leonid Nevzlin and organized by lawyer Anatoly Blinov. According to the fund, they are also involved in attacks on the wife of economist Maxim Mironov, Alexandra Petrachkova in Argentina, and on FBK director Ivan Zhdanov in Geneva.
• The Polish prosecutor's office reported that eight people are being investigated in the case of an attack on Russian oppositionists abroad. Among the suspects are six Poles, one Belarusian and one Russian - Blinov. At the same time, only four people were arrested, including Blinov, Maximilian Krol and Igor Tsikhorsky.
