As the publication notes, this is about 13% of the entire territory that was controlled by the Ukrainian military on October 8. At the same time, most of the returned territory - 65 square kilometers - was recaptured by Russian troops over the past weekend.
The main battles in the Kursk region took place in the Korenevsky district
Russian troops launched a counter-offensive from west to east and from north to south, including from Korenevo in the direction of the villages of Olgovka and Lyubimovka. According to the Rybar telegra channel, close to the Ministry of Defense, the Russian army has already occupied Olgovka, Pokrovsky, Zeleny Shlyakh and Nizhny Klin, and has also encircled Ukrainian Armed Forces units in the Lyubimovka area.
Now the fighting is taking place in the area of Novoivanovka and Kremyany. In turn, the pro-Kremlin channel Mash claims that the Ukrainian military has already been driven out of Lyubimovka. Deepstate has not yet confirmed this information.
Also, the Russian army is counter-attacking in the Sudzha area
Russian troops are approaching the regional center from two directions. In the southeast, they began to storm the village of Martynovka, which is located seven kilometers from Sudzha. As Mash notes , control of this settlement will allow the Russian army to occupy commanding heights above the city.

In turn, military analyst Yan Matveev notes that on the Kursk Front there is currently a significant numerical superiority of Russian forces, which, according to various sources, ranges from one and a half to one to three to one.
Let us recall that earlier “Verstka” reported that the Russian military expected an invasion of the Kursk region at the end of 2023: the first documents that talk about the preparation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces for the invasion are dated by the end of 2023. However, this did not help to avoid chaos at the front in the first days of the Ukrainian Armed Forces offensive. In particular, due to problems with coordination, more than 100 conscripts were captured.
