The online service for distributing computer games and programs Steam, at the request of Roskomnadzor, removed from its resources all materials prohibited in the Russian Federation, the department’s press service reported .
“Steam has complied with legal requirements to remove prohibited information. Links to 11 Internet pages previously included in the Register (of prohibited information) will be excluded from it. In total, the platform removed more than 260 materials containing illegal content,” the RKN said .
Steam is a digital platform for the distribution of computer games. It allows users to purchase and install games, as well as communicate with other gamers in communities and read gaming news.
Previously, Roskomnadzor included several Steam communities in the register of prohibited sites. At the same time, the department stated that they do not plan to block the entire service, since it is cooperating with the regulator.
In early October, Roskomnadzor blocked another popular resource among gamers - the Discord messenger. Later, social network users noticed that the domain discord.ru now leads to a website for recruiting contract soldiers for the Northern Military District.
