Moskalev was released from IK-6 in Novomoskovsk after serving his sentence in the case of “discrediting” the Russian army, lawyer Vladimir Bilienko told OVD-Info*.
According to Bilienko, the hardest thing for his client was the separation from his daughter: they have an excellent relationship, Masha came to meet her father from the colony.
The case of Moskalev and his daughter Masha was widely covered in the media. In the spring of 2022, a 12-year-old girl drew an anti-war drawing in class, after which the school principal contacted the police. In December 2022, a criminal case was opened against her father due to several publications in Odnoklassniki.
In March 2023, Moskalev was placed under house arrest, and Masha was placed in a rehabilitation center. Officials also demanded that Masha’s father and mother have parental rights limited, but this case was subsequently dropped, and the daughter was handed over to her mother, who had not communicated with her for more than seven years.
That same month, Moskalev was sentenced to two years in prison. He did not come to the announcement of the verdict, having escaped from house arrest. A day later, the man was detained in Minsk. Subsequently, the period was reduced to a year and ten months.
