North Korea will send about 11 thousand soldiers to eastern Russia who will undergo combat training to participate in the war against Ukraine, South Korean intelligence and the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine (GUR) report.

In an interview with The War Zone, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kirill Budanov, also noted that the first unit of 2,600 soldiers will be sent to the Kursk region. Earlier at the EU summit in Brussels, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky also said that at least ten thousand North Korean soldiers are training in Russia.

The ASTRA Telegram channel published a video taken from the Z-military correspondents’ channels, in which, allegedly, military personnel from North Korea (DPRK) are at one of the military training grounds in Russia. However, it is not specified where and when this video was filmed.

In August 2024, Newsweek, citing intelligence data, reported that since mid-2022, North Korea has supplied Russia with more than 13 thousand containers of weapons. Delivery was carried out through the port of Najin. In addition, intelligence and the South Korean Ministry of Defense in June of the same year stated that the total number of weapons delivered in these containers from the DPRK to Russia could be about five million artillery shells.
