At least 85 citizens of India, deceived into the Russian army, were sent home. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of India, Vikram Misri.
According to him, the decision to dismiss these people from the Ministry of Defense was made after New Delhi raised this issue with Moscow. About 20 more citizens of India are going to send home in the near future.
“We also returned the remains of people who, unfortunately, died during the conflict,” said the diplomat.
Misri emphasized that the country's authorities are doing everything possible in order to free their citizens who were deceiving to war to Ukraine.
On October 22-23, India Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Russia to participate in the 16th Summit BRICS, which will be held in Kazan.
In March, the Central Bureau of Investigations of India (CBI) stated that it revealed a “large network of human trafficking”, which lured people through social networks into the ranks of the Russian army under the pretext of profitable work abroad.
The searches were carried out in 13 organizations, including travel agencies that can be involved in the recruitment of people to war. As a result, CBI detained and interrogates several suspects, the special services said in a statement.
The citizens of India, who responded to ads, were sent to the front line against their will, claims CBI. The release states that it was already possible to establish about 35 cases of sending India citizens to the war in Ukraine as part of the Russian army.
