The damage in the case of Moscow residents who damaged a spontaneous memorial to war participants in Ukraine was estimated at 55 thousand rubles

As part of the consideration of a criminal case regarding damage to a memorial to war participants in Ukraine, the results of the examination were announced in Moscow; the damage was estimated at 55,732 rubles. This was reported by a Mediazona correspondent from the hall of the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow.

The Tverskoy District Court continues to consider the case against 28-year-old Daniil Golikov and 26-year-old Andrei Kozlovsky under articles of vandalism (Part 2 of Article 214 of the Criminal Code) and destruction of memorial structures perpetuating the memory of those who died defending the Fatherland (clause “a” of Part 2 of Article 243.4 UK).

Today the court examined video from city cameras, which shows how Golikov and Kozlovsky approach the spontaneous memorial “in memory of all those who died during the Russian Spring and the Northern Military District” on Varvarka Street in Moscow, and one of them kicks a vase of flowers. The 40-second video was previously published by Z-channels.

From the materials of the case announced today, it follows that Olesya Solovyova, an activist of the “Russian Spring Generation” movement , has been recognized as the victim. Earlier in an interview, she said that “the flowers looked as if they had been trampled on, and wreaths and icons were scattered.” The video provided to the court shows only one kick on a vase of flowers, but the memorial support group that came to the meeting insist that this recording does not record all the actions of Golikov and Kozlovsky.

According to the expert’s conclusions, the spontaneous memorial “has enormous socio-cultural and patriotic significance,” “is associated with heroic events,” and has “historical value.” The memorial, according to the expert, was created “to perpetuate the memory of those who died defending the fatherland and its interests,” it “unites the people to achieve a speedy victory, protect the people of Russia” and “maintain peace and security on our planet.”

The accusation is based on the fact that on the night of March 10-11 they scattered flowers at a spontaneous memorial “in memory of all those who died during the Russian Spring and the Northern Military District” on Varvarka Street in Moscow.

On March 14, the Tver court sent Golikov and Kozlovsky to a special detention center for 15 days under protocols of disobedience to the police (Article 19.3 of the Administrative Code). The young people in court said that they were heavily intoxicated and did not remember the events at the memorial. On March 28, Golikov and Kozlovsky were sent under house arrest in connection with a criminal case.

Golikov holds a bachelor’s degree in Oriental Studies from the Higher School of Economics, Kozlovsky also studied there, and completed his master’s degree at the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Both were positively characterized by the leadership of the State Historical Museum.
