The reason for the Telegram fine was the refusal to delete the Nexta and UNIAN channels

The Tagansky District Court of Moscow published a resolution on the August fine to the Telegram messenger. The publication “Layout” drew attention to this.

On August 13, Messenger was fined 4 million rubles under the article on refusal to delete information at the request of the Russian authorities (Part 2 of Article 13.41 of the Administrative Code). Court officials did not give a reason at the time.

According to the resolution, the messenger did not comply with the requirements of the Prosecutor General's Office to delete several channels, including the Belarusian opposition channel Nexta , the Chechen channel 1ADAT and a number of Ukrainian channels. This is the channel of the UNIAN publication and the personal channels of the chief editor of Censor.Net Yuri Butusov and blogger Igal Levin.

The Prosecutor General's Office also demanded that posts with retelling of the Sever.Realii text about problems in the work of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation be removed from other telegram channels. The fund is headed by Vladimir Putin's cousin Anna Tsivileva, who was appointed deputy defense minister in June.

Since November 2023, the messenger has had five fines under this article. Previously, court decisions were either not published in the file cabinet at all, or were published in a redacted form. Thus, from the July decision on the fine, it is only known that the reason was a certain video about the Islamic State.
