An action against the results of the parliamentary elections began in Tbilisi. The opposition demanded a re-vote

In the center of Tbilisi, protesters gathered against the results of the parliamentary elections in Georgia, which were won by the pro-Russian Georgian Dream party.

Demonstrators, as Paper Kartuli reports, are holding a rally near the parliament building. They blocked Rustaveli Avenue.

Protesters booed the motorcade of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who arrived in Georgia on the evening of October 28. According to local media, he was staying at the Marriott Hotel on Rustaveli Avenue. Orban was the first to congratulate Georgian Dream on its victory in the elections.

Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili spoke at the rally. She said she spoke with international leaders who she said did not accept the election results. “We will fight to protect your constitutional right to vote. Now is not the time for pessimism, now it is important to calmly and with your head raised to defend your votes,” Zurabishvili said.

One of the leaders of the United National Movement party, Giorgi Vashadze, speaking at the rally, said that the opposition demands repeat elections, which will be held by the international administration.

• Elections to the Georgian parliament were held on October 26. International observers indicated that the voting took place with violations. Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili said that recognition of the election results would mean “the arrival of Russia and the subjugation of Georgia.”
• According to the Georgian Central Election Commission, the ruling Georgian Dream party received 53.9% of the votes and a majority in parliament in the elections. Four main opposition parties also entered parliament - “Coalition for Change” (11%), “United National Movement” (10.2%), “Strong Georgia” (8.8%), “Gakharia for Georgia” (7 .8%). After the elections they announced that they would boycott the new parliament.
