How many min drifting in the Black Sea?

This year, between Sochi and Batumi, the steam does not work again. The distance between these cities by water is 267 km, on the ground - 1280 km. It is not surprising that the majority chose a sea trip, especially since 4 hours of roads pass along the Caucasian mountains. But, alas, now this is impossible. And not at all because of complex political relations between countries, but because of security measures. Presumably in the Black Sea, a huge number of uncontrollably drifting sea mines: some during the storms were torn from the ports of Odessa, Ochakovo, Chernomorsk and Crimea, others were dropped from the air to destroy the enemy by the Russian military, this was stated by the speaker of the Ukrainian Navy. Some mines even sailed to Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania.

In July this year, the speaker of the Ukrainian Naval Forces Dmitry Pletenchuk said that in the Black Sea water area at least 400 minutes: "But this is a rather approximate amount, given how much mine-explosive devices got as a result of the destruction of the Kakhovsky hydroelectric power station. The Dnieper was mined there very densely, and it is clear that large water had grinded everything there."

In April 2022, near the Bosphorus Strait, the Turkish and Romanian military destroyed four Russian mines, and in September of the same year, the minesweeper of the Romania Dimitrie Nicolescu was demolished in ammunition, which he tried to neutralize near the port of Constanta. In December last year, there was a blowing on the sea mine of a civil vessel under the flag of Panama, two sailors were injured. The balker was heading under the load of grain into one of the Danube ports. Presumably, over two and a half years of the war, more than 80 similar cases have been recorded.

In January of this year, Turkey, Romania and Bulgaria, NATO members signed a memorandum of understanding to create a naval anti-minor defense group on the Black Sea. The agreement suggests that for three years (then extension is possible), the anti -minute ships of only these three states will be cleaned by sea waters. In July, work began, but they are carried out only in the economic zones of the participating countries. The remaining territories are in danger. One sea mine contains about 20-30 kilograms of explosives. This is enough to kill a person, destroy a small boat up to 10 meters long or damage a large ship.

In 2007, when I was in Sevastopol, I saw how post -war murder was carried out. Even 60 years after the end of World War II, mines found mines in the Black Sea. And sometimes it ended in a tragedy. The echo of this war, too, apparently, will sound for a long time.
