Vologda: a pensioner was fined for "justification of terrorism"

In Vologda, the court fined a pensioner for 300 thousand rubles in the case of "justification of terrorism" due to commentary on the telegram channel. This was reported by Rosstraf, announcing the collection of money for a fine.

In February 2024, four FSB officers came to the apartment of the son of Vologda Olga (human rights activists did not reveal her surname). They behaved rudely, knocked out the telephone from Olga’s hands and did not allow lawyers to contact. FSB officers did not talk about the reasons for the visit before the end of the three -hour search. After that, they brought students to the police school as witnesses, they signed the protocol. Olga was reported that she was suspected under the article on the “justification of terrorism” due to the commentary in Telegram about the “actions of the Russian-speaking military unit of the warrior on the side of Ukraine, which was recognized in Russia with a terrorist organization.”

The pensioner was taken to the FSB for interrogation. Where one of the employees shouted at her. Olga was refused to attract a lawyer by agreement and forbidden to call, saying that at first she should plead guilty. She refused. At the recognition of guilt, a lawyer for their intended purpose also insisted (provided by the state).

Olga was in custody for three days, after which she was taken to the court, who elected her house arrest as a preventive measure. The stress received during the conclusion led to the fact that Olga suffered a heart attack. At the same time, she was discharged from the hospital by calling the investigator.

In June 2024, a court took place, on which the prosecution requested 5.5 years of colony for a resident of Vologda. The court sentenced her to a fine of 300 thousand rubles.

• According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the number of cases of justification of terrorism is invariably growing. In 2019, 212 cases were initiated in Russia under this article, in 2020 - 232 cases, in 2021 - 315 cases, in 2022 - 490, and in 2023 - 548. Human rights activists from the first department note that the increase in the number of cases of "justification of terrorism" can be explained by the desire of the authorities to persecute dissenters.
