Israel officially notified the UN of termination of relations with Bapor

Israel officially notified the UN of termination of the agreement, which regulates the country's relations with the Middle Eastern agency of the UN to help Palestinian refugees and the organization of work (Bapor). This was reported on Monday by the Israeli Foreign Ministry.

At the end of October, the Israeli parliament approved the ban on Bapor's activity in the country. Knesset approved two bills. The first states that the direct or indirect activity of the Bapor in Israel is not allowed. The second is that the contract between Israel and the Bapor signed in 1967 is terminated, and now the Israeli state authorities will not contact Bapor or its representatives.

The bills were alarmed by the UN and some Western allies of Israel, who are afraid that this will further aggravate the humanitarian situation in the gas sector. According to Reuters, the Bapor’s activity is still not prohibited on the western bank of the Jordan River and in the Gas sector, but the new legislation will seriously affect the ability to organize working in these territories.

The Israeli side has previously repeatedly stated that the Bapor is closely connected with the control sector of the Gamas radical group, which is recognized as terrorist in the USA and Europe. In August of this year, the UN admitted that Bapor officers could be involved in the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, when about 1,200 Israelis were killed, and about 240 were taken hostage.
