The Duma called on the government to fight "destructive children's literature"

The State Duma Committee on Family Protection applied to the government with an appeal to deal with the "destructive" children's literature. The letter quotes the RTVI channel and the Kommersant newspaper . As a bad example, children in the text are given a book where the hero refused to go to war.

In a letter from the head of the committees of Nina Ostanina, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, it is said that 2/3 of children's books form “negative attitudes”: refusal to service in the army, “indifference to the future”, a change in traditional gender roles in society. The authors ignore spirituality in the works and the shortcomings of people are normalized, deputies say.

This conclusion was made on the basis of a study by the Union of Writers who analyzed 930 children's works published in Russia. For example, the authors of the letter use the book "Soldier" by Italian writers Kristina Bellemo and Veronica Ruffato, in which the main character abandoned the war for a peaceful life.

The authors note that no one accused the desertion of the hero’s book. The Committee recalled that desertion in Russia is criminally punishable and that the defense of the Fatherland, according to the Constitution, is a duty and duty of a citizen.

Deputies believe that such an example "will never raise heroes in our children." For the censorship of the works, the authors of the letter offer to invite writers, psychologists and "young modern parents."
