Dagestan was attacked by drones for the first time since the beginning of the war

Telegram channels Shot, Mash and Baza , close to the security forces, were the first to report the UAV attack on Kaspiysk. Later this information was confirmed by the head of Dagestan Sergei Melikov. “The circumstances of the incident are now being clarified. There is an operational headquarters and I am in constant contact with the responsible authorities. I want to assure that all decisions will be made in a timely manner for the safety of the residents of the republic,” the official said.

This is the first time since the start of Russia's war in Ukraine that drones have attacked Dagestan. Makhachkala Airport has temporarily suspended operations.

As ASTRA * writes, photos and videos from the site indicate that drones tried to attack the base of the Caspian Flotilla of the Russian Navy. According to open sources, units of coastal troops, including marines, are based at this point. The flotilla carried out missile attacks on Ukraine, and the 177th Marine Regiment took part in battles in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.

The distance between Caspian and the border with Ukraine is about 1,500 kilometers.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has not yet commented on the drone attack in Dagestan.
