One person died as a result of a Ukrainian drone attack on an apartment building in the city of Shebekino, said the governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov.
As the official said, the building on Shumilov Street came under attack from drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine twice in a day - and the first time right before his eyes, when he was on an inspection in the city. The UAV crashed into one of the apartments on the fourth floor. The governor and the head of the district checked the damaged apartment and made sure that the man in it was not injured.
The second attack occurred some time later. At that moment, his father came to the man from a neighboring house. “After the repeated attack, the ceiling slab collapsed. The father found himself under the rubble. We tried to pull it apart ourselves, but physically we could only do part of it. Emergency Situations Ministry employees arrived promptly. There is a risk of collapse of the upper floors. In one of the apartments, things and furniture caught fire; fire crews extinguished the fire. At the same time, another drone flew over us. Law enforcement officers tried to bring him down,” Gladkov wrote about the incident on his Telegram channel.
He later clarified that rescuers recovered the body of the deceased from the rubble.
All residents of the damaged house were evicted. Four went to a temporary accommodation center, one woman who required special care was taken to the district hospital, the rest went to relatives, the governor added.
