North Korean military personnel sent to Russia by Pyongyan to support the Russian army in the Kursk region take part in the hostilities, the press secretary of the US State Department Vedante Patel said on Tuesday. The same information was confirmed by the South Korean intelligence agency, Renhap reports .
According to Patel, most of the ten thousand North Korean soldiers sent to Russia are concentrated in the western part of the Kursk region, they "began to participate in hostilities together with the Russian forces."
The North Korean military took place on the Russian territory preparations for the use of artillery, unmanned aerial vehicles, conducting military operations using infantry, and stripping trenches. All this is necessary for conducting operations on the front line. Their success, as Patel said, will depend on the ability to act together with the Russian troops. An obstacle can be a language barrier, organization of management and control over military operations and communications.
The press secretary of the State Department stated that the United States is "extremely concerned" by the decision of Russia to resort to the help of the DPRK for war in Ukraine. Washington continues consultations with allies in order to analyze the consequences of this decision of Russia.
According to the American media , Russia has collected a 50,000th group, part of which is the North Korean contingent, for the offensive in the Kursk region.
