The prosecutor's office of Paris asked the leader of the parliamentary faction of the National Association Party Marine Le Pen to five years in prison, of which three are conditionally, and a fine of 300 thousand euros in the case of inappropriate consumption of the European Parliament. This was reported by the BFMTV channel.
In addition, the prosecution demanded to deprive the policy of the right to be elected to the authorities for five years.
In addition to Le Pen, 20 members of the National Association are held in the case. The prosecutor's office requested a prison time for them.
If the court shall pass the conviction, then Le Pen will not be able to put forward his candidacy to participate in the elections.
The politician, in response to the accusations, stated that the prosecutor wants to deprive the French with the opportunity to vote for those for whom they want.
The court hearings in the case of Le Pen and her associates began in Paris in September. According to the investigation, the accused fictitiously hired assistants in the European Parliament in order to abduct money for the "national association".
Le Pen announced the intention to run for President France in 2027.
