Donald Trump and Joe Biden met in the White House

The elected and current US presidents Donald Trump and Joe Biden met in an oval office in the White House as part of the traditional government transfer ceremony.

Biden greeted Trump and noted that he was counting on the "smooth transition" of the authorities in January. The current president added that he would provide a comfortable atmosphere for the successor when he will take the White House again.

“Politics is a hard matter, and in many cases it is not a very pleasant world, but today it is a wonderful world, and I really appreciate it,” Trump answered.

According to the White House, the Trump team, which has already announced some posts in the new administration, has yet to sign agreements on the provision of office premises and state equipment, as well as access to government facilities and information.

The 78-year-old Trump was president from 2017 to 2021. Having lost Joe Biden in 2020, he did not recognize his defeat so formally and was not present at the inauguration of his opponent.

Several criminal cases were instituted against Trump, one jury even found him guilty, but the verdict was not sentenced before the elections. The Republicans again nominated him as a candidate after a convincing victory in the primaries. In July, Trump survived an attempt to attempt - they shot him right at the election rally.

The 60-year-old presidential candidate from the Democrats of Kamal Harris in case of victory would be the first woman-the president of the United States. She did not participate in the primaries and became a candidate after Biden left the election race in July.

The inauguration of the new president will be held on January 20, 2025. Until this day, the current head of state Joe Biden will be the president.
