In the first ten months of 2024, retail sales of alcohol in Russia reached 184.2 million decaliters - this is the maximum volume since 2017. RBC writes about this with reference to Rosalkogoltabakcontrol.
Vodka sold the most during this period: 62.5 million decaliters versus 54.2 million decaliters in 2017.
Wine sales for the same period also turned out to be record high: 46.9 million decaliters of still wine were sold at retail, and 16.3 million decaliters of sparkling wine. This is 61% more than in the same period in 2017.
Retail sales of liquor and vodka products also increased by more than 15%. At the same time, Russians began to buy less grape-containing drinks without ethyl alcohol and fruit alcoholic products - by 34.3% and 20.1%, respectively.
At least half of the Russian population over 15 years old drinks alcohol at least once a year. Regular drinking of alcohol, even in small quantities, can be high-functioning alcoholism.
