“This is a cry for help!” In the Trans-Baikal Territory, village residents appealed to Putin with a request not to close the only school

In the village of Arbagar, Trans-Baikal Territory, residents launched a petition asking to stop the liquidation of the school. The local administration wants to close the institution due to the small number of students.

“We are categorically against closing the school. Our children have already been deprived of kindergarten. They must study at their own school. Low class enrollment should not be the reason why they want to close the school,” residents wrote.

Parents fear that daily trips to another educational institution can harm the health of their children.

“Transferring to another school will not change the level of knowledge for the better, and daily trips will affect the health of our children, since children will get up early, wait for the bus in the cold and rain, and often get sick. They will be left to their own devices, deprived of a home and family,” the text of the petition says.

In addition, 13 employees will lose their jobs when the school closes.

The appeal is addressed to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Governor of Transbaikalia Alexander Osipov, the regional prosecutor's office, the head of the Shilkinsky district Sergei Vorobyov and the head of the village Sergei Kozlov.

“This is a cry for help from the younger generation of the village of Arbagar. Whoever has the opportunity, please help and distribute this letter to the relevant authorities, since our appeal does not go anywhere further than Shilka,” concluded the authors of the appeal.
