Alexander Lukashenko signed a decree pardoning 32 Belarusian citizens convicted under articles of “extremism,” reports the “Pul First” telegram channel close to his press service.

Among those pardoned are eight women and 24 men. Their names are not mentioned. Allegedly, they all admitted their guilt, repented of their actions and petitioned for clemency.

“17 people have chronic diseases, one is disabled. 17 convicts have children, two of them have many children. Nine of those pardoned are over 50 years old,” the statement says.

Since the summer of 2024, political prisoners have been released in Belarus for the fifth time. So, on August 16, Lukashenko signed a decree pardoning 30 people, on September 4 - another 30 people , on September 16 - another 37 people , on November 7 - another 31 people . In all cases, Lukashenko’s press service did not name the names of those released. Later, independent publications and human rights activists found out their names.
In October, against the backdrop of the pardon of dozens of Belarusian citizens, Alexander Lukashenko stated that he was ready to consider a petition for pardon of political prisoner Maria Kolesnikova if she wrote it. In November it became known that Kolesnikova met with her father in the colony for the first time in a year and a half.
