A court in Yekaterinburg did not arrest a priest accused of attempting to rape a student

The Oktyabrsky District Court of Yekaterinburg ordered a ban on certain actions of Orthodox priest Daniil Sidorov on charges of attempted rape of a student (part 3 of article 30, part 1 of article 132 of the Criminal Code). An It's My City correspondent reported this from the courtroom.

According to information from 66.ru and E1.ru , on November 10, a man began to stalk a 19-year-old girl who was walking home along Kuibyshev Street in the evening after a concert. When the victim tried to enter the entrance, the cleric began to masturbate in front of her.

“He tried to grab me by the private parts, then threw me to the ground, continuing to masturbate, and with his other hand he grabbed my hair, since my hood had fallen off during the fight, and tried to turn my head towards himself. I hit him in the groin with my elbow,” the student told E1.ru reporters.

As reported by 66.ru , at first the security forces assumed that the girl was attacked by a migrant. How exactly Sidorov was identified is unknown. According to Ura.News , the priest was detained at Koltsovo airport when he was trying to fly out of Yekaterinburg. During interrogation, the accused admitted his guilt.

Daniil Sidorov is 26 years old, he served in one of the churches in Yekaterinburg and was an assistant to Metropolitan of Yekaterinburg and Verkhoturye Evgeniy (Kulberg). After the initiation of a criminal case, he was defrocked and fired from the diocese. The man has a wife and a small son.
