
The Oktyabrsky District Court of Yekaterinburg did not arrest priest Daniil Sidorov, who is suspected of attempting to rape a girl. The man was given a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions. This was reported by E1.ru and KP-Ekaterinburg .
As journalists from the courtroom said, Sidorov was prohibited from communicating with witnesses and the victim, including by telephone and via the Internet. He was also required to come to the investigator for questioning. The man was released from custody in the courtroom and he went home, the It's My City portal reported .
A criminal case has been opened against Sidorov for attempted sexual assault (part 3 of article 30, part 1 of article 132 of the Criminal Code). According to investigators, the 26-year-old priest chased the girl as she walked home. At the entrance, a man did not allow the victim to enter the house, threw her to the ground and masturbated - this was caught on the intercom camera, the recording was published by E1.ru.
The attempted rape occurred on November 10. The next day, the victim told E1.ru about what happened. According to her, she was walking home after the concert and noticed that an unknown person was following her. The girl quickened her pace and, approaching the entrance, tried to open the door, but the pursuer grabbed her by the buttocks and leaned against the door. After that, according to the girl, the man tried to grab her by the private parts and threw her to the ground. Her mother ran out into the street in response to the victim’s screams, after which the man ran away.
Sidorov’s arrest became known today, November 25. At the same time, the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, took control of this case on November 13. Then the department said that the attacker was “presumably a migrant.”
After the news of Sidorov’s detention, the Yekaterinburg diocese removed him from ministry and removed the priest from the staff. The man's data has been removed from the official website of the diocese.
Since 2020, the priest has held the position of secretary-referent of Metropolitan of Yekaterinburg and Verkhoturye Evgeniy (Kulberg), and was also appointed full-time cleric of the Great Chrysostom Church in honor of the Descent of the Holy Spirit.
Sidorov has a wife, Ekaterina, and a child. The woman was present at the court hearing as a result of the suppression, where she spoke out in support of her husband. Afterwards, she burst into tears in the hallway and refused to talk to the press.
