In Miass, lawyer and head of the local branch of the Yabloko party, Valentina Komkova, was detained. She was detained on the way to the Chelyabinsk Regional Court, where they were considering a complaint in the case of the chairman of the independent trade union Anatoly Bannykh.
The car in which Komkova was traveling was stopped by the traffic police. The officers stated that they had instructions to detain the human rights activist “until her identity is clarified.” The lawyer had her passport with her, but she was still taken to the police station - because of this, Komkova did not have time for the court hearing. It was rescheduled.
The next day, Komkova arrived in Chelyabinsk, where she was given a summons to urgently appear in Miass and give explanations about the administrative case. “They concocted a summons to urgently return me to Miass from Chelyabinsk. The man did not see the case, but he was simply ordered to return me. They don’t know what to get to the bottom of,” said the human rights activist.
A lawyer may be subject to a report on discrediting the army because of a post posted the day before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Anatoly Bannykh is the chairman of the trade union of workers at the Ural automobile plant. A court in Miass arrested him for 14 days for reposting a six-year-old video of Alexei Navalny. Bannykh planned to participate in the strike in order to achieve the inclusion of a motivational bonus in the workers’ salaries.
