Israel and Hezbollah have reached a ceasefire agreement. US President Joe Biden announced this. He wrote that he had spoken with the prime ministers of Israel and Lebanon. Hamas is also ready to conclude a truce with Israel.

The Israeli government approved the agreement almost unanimously, with only the far-right Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir opposing it. The ceasefire agreement will be implemented within 60 days - during which time the IDF must leave southern Lebanon. The Israeli military on the border will be replaced by the Lebanese armed forces.

Also, the United States, Israel and Lebanon will create a joint mechanism for monitoring and ensuring the agreement. At the same time, Israel will retain the “right of self-defense” if Hezbollah violates the treaty.
