Georgia refuses negotiations on joining the EU until the end of 2028, Prime Minister Irakli Kobahidze said on Thursday. Until that time, the government plans to abandon budget grants from the Union.

According to the Prime Minister, for Georgia, it is "absolutely unacceptable" to consider integration into the European Union as "alms" ( quote for "Ehu Caucasus").

Earlier on Thursday, the European Parliament approved a resolution that does not recognize the results of the parliamentary elections in Georgia. In the text of the resolution, the past elections were named not compliance with the international standards of democratic elections and the international obligations of Tbilisi to organize free and honest voting.

In October, the European Council announced that the process of integration of Georgia was actually suspended due to the actions of the ruling party "Georgian Dream". In particular, Tbilisi was sharply criticized for the adoption of laws on foreign agents and prohibition of LGBT+-propaganda.

After the statement of Kobakhidze, Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili held emergency consultations with the diplomatic corps, and in social networks they announced protest rallies in Tbilisi.
