A former nursery worker described as "one of Australia's worst pedophiles", 47-year-old Ashley Paul Griffith, has been jailed for life for sexually abusing 73 children. This was reported by the BBC and The Guardian .
According to the BBC, the man admitted to 307 crimes committed in kindergartens in the Australian state of Queensland and abroad between 2003 and 2022. His victims were children aged from one to seven years, mostly girls from three to five years old.
In addition to the case, Griffith is separately accused of abusing at least two dozen children in the Australian state of New South Wales and Italy, according to the BBC.

At the District Court in Brisbane, Judge Paul Smith said Griffith had a "high risk of re-offending". An expert psychiatrist told the court the man had been diagnosed with "paedophilic disorder" and had a lack of empathy for his victims.
In addition, some victims and their families told the court they trusted Griffith and became close to him. “[I] invited him into our home, into our lives and into our family,” one mother said.
Griffith was first arrested in August 2022 by the Australian Federal Police and a year later he was charged with more than 1,600 offenses against children. Most of them were eventually discontinued.

Investigators then discovered thousands of photographs and videos that Griffith had taken and posted on the dark web. The Guardian notes that since 2013, authorities have been looking for a darknet user under the nickname Zimble, who posted materials related to children to the pedophile community. For this, community members received access to other materials.
In his comments, Zimble gave advice to other users on how to commit crimes against girls. Griffith said he acted to "strike a balance between minimizing risks and seizing opportunities."
