Putin appointed Khinshtein as acting governor of the Kursk region

State Duma deputy Alexander Khinshtein became acting governor of the Kursk region. The corresponding decree was signed by Vladimir Putin.

During a meeting with Khinshtein, a video of which was published by the Kremlin, Putin noted that the deputy in 2016-2018 served as an adviser to the director of the Russian Guard.

“And in this regard, I would like to offer you the position of acting governor of the Kursk region, bearing in mind that crisis management is now in demand there, of course, in the situation in which the Kursk region is now,” Putin said. “And as the territory is liberated from the enemy, of course, a lot will need to be done there to restore housing and communal services, the economy and the territories as a whole, including those that are now being liberated by our troops.”

Putin noted that “the most important thing” is to organize work to help people who need it.

The decree signed by Putin states that the previous head of the region, Alexey Smirnov, resigned of his own free will. Smirnov became governor after the elections, which took place in September this year.

In November, rallies were held in Kursa by residents of the region who fled their homes due to the offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. People complained about the lack of housing certificates and the inaction of the federal government. After this, the heads of several border regions were dismissed, but it turned out that they continued their work.
