In Moscow, a transgender girl was forcibly sent to the military registration and enlistment office

Moscow police detained a transgender girl at a bus stop and sent her to the military registration and enlistment office. This was reported by the Sphere charity foundation, which protects LGBT+ people.

The arrest took place on the night of December 11. The police did not explain to the girl the reason for her detention, but said that they wanted to send her to military service. As Sfera notes, from approximately 0:30 to 9 am the girl was in the Perovo police station without food or communication.

After that, she was taken to the regional military registration and enlistment office, and then to the military registration and enlistment office for the North-Eastern administrative district of Moscow. At about 9 p.m., the girl was sent to the City collection point, from where she managed to escape. However, she was detained again on the evening of December 11 and taken to the Pechatniki police station.

There is no contact with her now. The lawyer at the police station was unable to obtain information from the police about the whereabouts of the missing girl. Sphere lawyers suggest that the girl could have been taken to the collection point again.

In November 2023, Radio Liberty wrote that transgender people face great difficulties in confirming their right not to serve in the army for medical reasons. To confirm the “D” category, which exempts a person from conscription, military registration and enlistment offices require trans people to undergo a psychiatric examination in a hospital.
