Military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were detained in the case of transferring data about the F-16 to Russia

A group of Ukrainian military personnel was detained in the Dnepropetrovsk region on suspicion of collaborating with the intelligence of the Russian Ministry of Defense and collecting information about F-16 fighters. The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine reported this.

According to the investigation, one of the detainees, a Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman with pro-Russian views, agreed to cooperate with a representative of Russian military intelligence. It is alleged that he collected and transmitted data on the deployment of Ukrainian units and military equipment, as well as the location of authorities and military command in order to strike them.

The Office of the Prosecutor General also reports that the suspect recruited three more acquaintances of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to work for Russian intelligence, without revealing their true intentions and declaring that he was acting in the interests of the Ukrainian special services.

Depending on the role of each, the detainees were charged with treason and unauthorized dissemination of information about the movement, movement or location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The SBU, in turn, reported the disclosure of “the largest network of Russian agents” who were searching for the locations of secret military airfields potentially used for basing F-16 fighters.

“As a result of the special operation, 12 Russian agents and their informants were exposed. Some of them were deserters who left the Ukrainian Armed Forces units without permission, and when they were hiding from justice, they were recruited by the Russian special service,” the special service said in a statement.

According to the SBU, the head of the intelligence network was in the Dnepropetrovsk region and coordinated the activities of his accomplices in the Zaporozhye, Kharkov, Sumy, Nikolaev and Odessa regions.

Ukraine received its first F-16 fighter jets from Denmark and the Netherlands in August. In early December, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky announced the transfer of a second batch of fighter jets by Denmark.
