
The State Duma adopted amendments in the second and third readings, excluding the possibility of parole for convicts for life-long periods under terrorist articles. The relevant changes will be made to the article on UDO.
Now convicts under articles on terrorist crimes, as well as under articles on armed rebellion and an act of international terrorism, will not be able to apply for early liberation.
In addition, the document introduces a new article on providing assistance to the enemy in activities directed against the security of Russia. She establishes liability for foreigners and stateless persons for financial, consulting or other support of the enemy. The punishment under this article will be from 10 to 15 years in prison.
The bill also changes to the article on armed rebellion, sharing responsibility depending on the role in the crime. Earlier, the punishment provided for 12 to 20 years in prison for organizing or active participation in the rebellion. Now the terms will be differentiated depending on the degree of participation and grave consequences, including fatal cases.
Additionally, the bill expands the determination of the Stateise. She now includes voluntary participation in the “obviously directed against the security of the Russian Federation” of the authorities and enemy organizations, including the transition to his side.
The bill was submitted to the State Duma in July 2024. After adoption in the third reading, he will be sent to the Federation Council, and then to the President’s Council.
