A tenth-grader who tried to set fire to the district administration was detained in St. Petersburg

Police in the Kingisepp district of St. Petersburg detained a 10th grade student suspected of trying to set fire to the district administration building. This was reported by the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The 16-year-old girl tried to set the building on fire on Dec. 19, police said in a release. She was detained on the spot after a call from the district head. Judging by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the schoolgirl did not have time to set fire to the administration. There were no casualties.

The police reported that they seized three bottles of flammable liquid, clothes, a phone and a lighter from the tenth-grader. After the arrest, the schoolgirl was handed over to legal representatives under an obligation to appear.

According to Mash on Moika, the girl was going to set fire to the administration of the village of Falileevo. Fontanka writes that the schoolgirl spilled lighter fluid in the room and tried to set fire to the doused things. Both media outlets claim that she was detained not by the police, but by administration workers.

A criminal case into attempted arson has not yet been opened.
