In Moscow, police near the building of the Prosecutor General's Office detained Vera Shikhova, who was holding a single picket in support of her son, injured in a mine accident. She herself reported this to OVD-Info.
Shikhova is being taken to the Tverskoy police station. She has been detained for the sixth time in December - the last time the security forces detained her was the day before, on December 25.
Alexander Shikhov, the son of Vera Shikhova, was injured in an accident at the Ziminka mine in 2010. He suffered spinal fractures, a traumatic brain injury, torn knee ligaments and a prolapsed hernia. In addition, the man suffered a stroke and subsequently developed brain damage. He is not reimbursed for treatment costs and is not provided with financial support due to loss of ability to work. Vera Shikhova has been organizing pickets demanding social support for her son for more than ten years.
