The 1st Western District Military Court sentenced St. Petersburg actor Daniil Saltykov to a fine of 200 thousand rubles due to comments about the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK) and the Freedom of Russia Legion. SOTAvision reports this.
The young man was found guilty of calling for terrorism on the Internet (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code). The prosecutor requested three years in prison for him.
Saltykov was charged with comments in the group “Peter against mobilization.” Their content is unknown; the prosecutor announced only a few words: “BB...further obscene...and ends with the word Ichkeria.” The indictment states that the young man spoke positively about the RDK and the Freedom of Russia Legion and called for joining their ranks.
In court, Saltykov said that he regretted his actions, completely repented and deleted the comments even before his arrest.
The parents of the accused, Elena and Sergei Saltykov, spoke at the hearings. His mother said political views were not discussed in the family. She called her son’s actions youthful maximalism and teenage stupidity. Saltykova also said that family members do not have foreign passports and have never traveled abroad. “Only Daniil has a passport, since he really wanted to visit Hollywood,” she added.
Saltykov’s comments were discovered by operatives and they became witnesses for the prosecution. The security forces did not appear in court, so the prosecutor read out their written testimony. Law enforcement officers said that the young man’s words confused them “with their radical anti-Russian orientation,” after which they submitted a report to the FSB.
The results of a psychological and linguistic examination of Saltykov’s comments were also announced at the meeting. The study revealed in his words “motivating intonations in the form of a call to join terrorist organizations.” A check of the boy's computer data revealed that he was interested in obtaining a US immigrant visa. In addition, during a search, a US flag was found on him. The convict explained that his friends gave it to him because as a child he dreamed of going to Hollywood.
Daniil Saltykov is the eldest of four children in the family. He received acting and teaching education, and also worked as an animator and acting teacher.
