“Forecast for 2025? War, war fatigue, emigration, collapse of society and repression"
Final episode of “Terrible News” with Kirill Martynov
2024 has some unexpected plot twists in store for us. Refugees appeared in Russia and had to leave their homes in the Kursk region. And North Korean troops also arrived in the country (like in a second-rate Hollywood action movie!). At the end of the year, Putin showed the whole world an “analogue” of nuclear weapons - “Oreshnik”. On February 16, Alexei Navalny was killed in the colony. Thousands of people took to the streets of Moscow to say goodbye to the politician. Six months later, several political prisoners were exchanged. In March, 4 days after Putin’s re-election, a terrorist attack occurred in Crocus City Hall. More than 140 people died. Instead of fighting terrorism, the Russian authorities proposed a war against migrants. And the Russian authorities have learned to fight public memory. “Crocus” has not become the new “Beslan” or “Nord-Ost”. Kirill Martynov, editor-in-chief of Novaya Gazeta Europe, sums up the results of the past year and reads fortunes using tarot cards to find out what awaits us in 2025.
