Rome, for example, will welcome more than 30 million visitors this year. These are mainly pilgrims who will go to the Vatican to celebrate the Jubilee Year. Catholics celebrate it every 25 years: the first was in 1300, and the last in 2000. Believers at this time can receive indulgence - forgiveness of sins.
To mark the Jubilee Year, the Pope will open the gates of four churches - including St Peter's - that last opened in 2015. For the arrival of tourists, the authorities improved Rome: they reconstructed the fountains in Piazza Navona, modernized the green areas around the Vatican and Hadrian's Mausoleum, and opened a new section of the metro.
True, travelers heading to the Italian capital in 2025 should better plan their vacation: book accommodation and tickets to attractions in advance.
And if Rome, full of tourists, does not sound tempting, then there are other European cities on the list: for example, Spanish Seville, the birthplace of flamenco. This is not the most popular city among tourists, but it is in no way inferior to Barcelona or Madrid, and the sun shines there 300 days a year.
It is better to go in the spring: in early May the cityhosts the Seville Fair, during which everyone dances flamenco.
Bloomberg advises lovers of Scandinavia to go to the province of Skåne in southern Sweden. There are many lighthouses, castles, quaint fishing villages and royal gardens.
In 2024, the Grand Egyptian Museum opened in Giza, the construction of which took more than 20 years and more than a billion dollars. For now, the halls are operating in test mode: visitors have access to only part of the exhibition.
It is expected that the museum will store more than 100 thousand exhibits. Among them are 5,000 items from the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun, including his golden funerary mask and sarcophagus. This is a must-go for all lovers of Egyptian civilization.
Another North African country on the list is Algeria. It managed to recover after civil war between the military and Islamist groups in the 1990s, and is now ready to welcome tourists. By 2030, Algeria aims to welcome 12 million people a year.
In the meantime, there are few tourists, it’s worth going - at least to look at the oasis dotted with palm trees in the Sahara, where the city of Timimoun is located, writes Bloomberg.

Island lovers have several options: Sao Tome and Principe, Seychelles, Bahamas, Canary Islands and Antigua and Barbuda. The latter, for example, have the fastest growing economy among the Caribbean islands in 2024.

Tourist destinations for 2025 also include Greenland. The island, home to giant icebergs and aurora, is not very popular with tourists due to its inaccessibility: until November 2024, international travelers had to fly to Kangerlussuaq, an old US air base located in the center of the west coast, and then transfer to a small plane for onward travel. However, at the end of November, an international airport opened after reconstruction in the capital of Greenland, Nuuk, which will greatly facilitate travel.
It is better to go there in July and August - this way you can see the midnight sun and also enjoy the warmest period on the island.
In Latin America, they advise paying attention to the Colombian Amazon and the Portillo ski resort in Chile, which turns 75 years old in 2024. The peculiarity of Portillo is that it has only one six-story hotel where all the skiers live. There is also a cinema, disco or piano bar. The maximum capacity of the hotel is 450 guests.
Among the Asian destinations, Bangkok made the list: in October 2024, the One Bangkok skyscraper was opened in the capital of Thailand, the construction of which cost $3.9 billion.
Along with him, the editors advise Japan - in 2025 the World Exhibition (Expo) will be held in Osaka. Expo 2025 will take place from April 13 to October 13 on Yumeshima Island. The main theme of the event is “Designing a future society for our lives.” At the exhibition, countries will present their achievements in the field of innovation and technology.
