At least 81 times the drones attacked Russian refineries in 2024

In 2024, Ukrainian drones at least 81 times attacked Russian refineries and civilian fuel bases, calculated the Russian BBC Service. This number does not include attacks on the refineries located in Ukrainian territories occupied by Russia, including in Crimea.

In addition, journalists indicate that they considered only attacks that were confirmed by at least two independent sources. For example, a large fire at the Omsk oil refinery did not get into the study, because the attack of drones was not reliably confirmed on it.

The attacks on the refinery led to a reduction in oil refining in Russia to a 12-year minimum, because after each successful attack the plants dwelled for repairs. According to Reuters, the attacks of drones and sanctions led to a simple capacity of the refinery of 41.1 million tons - this is more than 12% of their total volume in Russia.

In response to attacks, the Russian authorities ceased to publish gasoline production statistics "for information security purposes." An embargo for the export of oil products was also introduced.

Judging by the statistics of fuel prices, which is still published, over the year the cost of a liter of gasoline has risen in price by 10.85%, and diesel by 8.56%. Whether this is unambiguously related to the successful raids of Ukrainian drones is unknown.

Experts surveyed by journalists believe that in the near future, despite repairs at the refinery, there will be no problems with the supply of gasoline in the domestic market, but they may begin closer to summer when the demand for fuel is growing.

They try to protect the drones of the refinery from attacks with antronron nets, but they are not very effective. For example, such nets did not save from the attacks of the Novoshakhtinsky refinery in the Rostov region, which was attacked several times in a year. Also in March 2024, the representative of the Ministry of Energy Artem Verkhov said that the department, together with Rosguardia, was developing security measures for oil refineries, including the installation of the shell-gun complexes "shell" at the refineries.

In addition, the recently Khamovnican Court of Moscow ordered Yandex to close access to cards and photographs of the military refinery in the Ryazan region, which was already subjected to air raid.
