It is reported that Russians often bought painkillers and antipyretic drugs based on ibuprofen, as well as drugs for the treatment of venous diseases with hesperidin and diosmin. In 2024, 17.4 billion rubles and 16.7 billion rubles were spent on them, respectively, which is 8.6% and 15.1% more than in 2023.
According to analysts, sales of packages of tablets based on ibuprofen have overtaken sales of packages of a medicine for the treatment and prevention of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract with omeprazole. Demand for drugs with hesperidin and diosmin in physical terms increased by 4.9% compared to 2023.
“In total, in 2024, Russians spent about 1.6 trillion rubles on medicines. Judging by the number of packages sold, the increase was 1.4%. Analgesics remain the most popular group - they accounted for 6.8% of all drug sales in 2024. Next come anti-inflammatory and antirheumatic drugs (6.6%), as well as remedies for runny nose and nasal congestion (6.4%),” said Deputy General Director of the CRPT Revaz Yusupov.
Earlier, SberSpasibo analysts reported that in 2024 Russians began to spend more money on medicines. According to their data, the average bill in pharmacies in cities with a population of over a million increased by 13.5% compared to 2023 and amounted to 434.5 rubles. The highest figures were recorded in Moscow and St. Petersburg - residents of these cities spent 556 and 510 rubles on medicines, respectively.
