In the Ivanovo region, a report was drawn up against the chief editor of the media about “discrediting the army” due to a typo in the surname of a military man

To the editor-in-chief of the pro-government media “IvanovoNEWS | BARS" Sergei Kustov drew up an administrative protocol under Art. 20.3.3 Code of Administrative Offenses, writes “7×7”*.

In November 2024, Kustov published the names of 17 Russian soldiers who disappeared during a special operation in Ukraine. According to the journalist himself, a mistake was made in the last name of one serviceman - the police considered this “the dissemination of unverified information as truthful.”

“Don’t you want to look into the eyes of mothers who have not known where their son is for a year? <…> Of course, it’s much easier to give me a 300,000-dollar fine in order to silence everyone who is ready to give the floor to the relatives of the missing…” wrote Kustov.

• In November 2024, residents of the Ivanovo region and relatives of the military of the 98th Airborne Division recorded an appeal to Vladimir Putin, in which they named the names of the missing soldiers and asked for information about their fate.

“Nothing is known about our fighters. Military units and military registration and enlistment offices do not respond to our requests,” they said.
