Russian authorities seized all of Morgenstern's property

As follows from the press release, the musician was prohibited from taking legal actions with a land plot and a residential building in the Istra district of the Moscow region, as well as with a non-residential building and three premises. The Savelovsk interdistrict prosecutor's office sought to seize the property.

The telegram channel Shot, close to the security forces, claims that Morgenstern owns a house in the village of Leonovo near Moscow, a plot of land and a garage, which in total cost about 200 million rubles. “In addition, he owns three premises on Bakuninskaya Street in Moscow. All of them are located in the Alexandria multifunctional complex. The area of ​​one of them is 124.5 square meters. m, two more - 18.5 square meters each,” the post says.

The musician’s lawyer, Sergei Zhorin, in a comment to RBC, said that he learned about the seizure of Morgenstern’s property from the media. According to him, the rapper and his defense did not receive official notifications. “And now we will request official documents, and if this information is true, we will appeal the acts that imposed the arrest,” he added.

Morgenstern was accused of not placing dice

The criminal case against Morgenstern for failure to fulfill the duties of a “foreign agent” became known in September 2024. The reason for the case was the publication of a musician without a “foreign agent” badge in “one of the instant messengers and video hosting sites.” The Russian Ministry of Justice included the rapper in the register in May 2022.

On January 17, 2024, Morgenstern was charged in this case. Then his lawyer Zhorin said that the inclusion of the musician in the register of “foreign agents” was “illegal and unfounded”, and that the rapper put the appropriate mark, so the defense would prove his innocence.

Morgenstern left Russia in 2021 amid reports that the Investigative Committee was checking his work for inducement to drug use. Then the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, speaking at one of the conferences, said that the musician “deals drugs on social networks.”

Previously, “Verstka” calculated that by the end of 2024, almost every third “foreign agent” found itself under criminal prosecution. If by the end of 2023 21.2% of “foreign agents” were involved in criminal cases, then by 2024 this figure increased to 29.2%.
