Student squad caught in sexualized bullying disbanded
St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University (LETI) has officially suspended the work of the Danko student construction team for “non-compliance with the university’s regulatory documents.” A week ago, Fontanka published an investigation into hazing and sexualized bullying in this detachment during a trip to the Irkutsk region.

Fontanka journalists managed to confirm Sonya’s story by infiltrating the construction team under the guise of students. They also claim that they have photo and video materials from the squad’s internal chats.
In the summer of 2023 and 2024, members of the Danko team traveled to the Kovykta gas condensate field in the Irkutsk region. The last time the students worked at a Gazprom facility was for 46 days, according to the squad’s website. In July, the company published a greeting to 500 participants in various student teams and noted that they would be improving the territory of “the largest field in terms of gas reserves in the East of Russia.”
The Investigative Committee of the Irkutsk Region, at the request of the student, is checking the activities of the student team, a source told Fontanka. State Duma deputy Nina Ostanina also called on the Investigative Committee to conduct an investigation.
As stated on the LETI website, the Danko student construction team appeared in the 1960s, ceased its work after the collapse of the USSR, and was recreated in 2005. The university removed mentions of the squad from its website.
