He is not Kolya, he is Vasya

On January 23, the adventurous picaresque comedy “Vasily” directed by Dmitry Litvinenko will be released.

The comedy is hot, seemingly at a high level, but the plot is simple, secondary, over-sentimental, with obvious, in places, television moves and turns.

Censorship cannot be undermined - no drugs are shown on camera. The Russians don't give up. The Motherland heals the crippled soul.

In general, the film “Brother” rules freely here. The first part is called: “Brother”. The tagline is: “I found out I have a Mexican family.”

Yes, and his brother Vasya Kolya saves him, who tirelessly betrays and sells him, guided by a simple Bagrovsky principle (almost verbatim quotation): “He is my brother!”

And hot Mexican exoticism ignites all around: carnival, desert, red light district, chases. And Russian pop music in Spanish: “And this wedding sang and danced,” “I love you to tears,” and also greetings to all the “boys” in “Gray Night,” which flies straight from Tijuana to the quiet and peaceful village of Kovylkino.

Will people watch this movie? Necessarily. Here, “The Undiamond Hand” has become the leader of the New Year’s battle for the viewer. During the holidays, 44.8 million viewers watched the parody of Gaidai on TV and in online cinemas. It is curious that “The Diamond Arm” itself became the box office champion in 1969, and then the film was watched by 76.7 million viewers. The mutilated Gaidai is about to catch up with the original. To paraphrase Joseph de Maistre: “Every people has the cinema it deserves.”
