According to eyewitnesses, the teenager and his friends went to set off fireworks, but the pyrotechnics were installed not in an open space, but in a certain pipe. The teenager underwent a multislice computed tomography scan. The image showed that there were foreign bodies in the patient’s chest, some of which were in soft tissues. The examination also showed that the student had a broken rib.
“I think it was fireworks, the kind that explode at heights. The force of the charge was such that it instantly pierced both the winter jacket and the skin, and it exploded inside. I cannot explain the mechanism of injury in any other way. The doctors added that after removing the foreign body, they noticed sedimented lung tissue. “The guy was lucky that there was no damage to the visceral pleura, that the lungs and diaphragm were intact, and there was no strained hemo- or pneumotrax,” the surgeon noted.
