Zhenya Kulakova lives in two cities: in St. Petersburg - her work and home, in Orenburg - her lover and client Vitya Filinkov. Vitya is a political prisoner, he was sentenced to 7 years in the Network case, and Zhenya is his public defender. In order to get a long date and spend more than a few hours together for the first time, Zhenya and Vitya decided to get married. In January 2024, a month before the wedding, which may not yet take place due to the machinations of the jailers, Zhenya begins to keep an audio diary. These notes chronicle the life of a person whose loved one is behind bars: visits and trials, prison parcels and love letters, the meanness of prison staff and small legal victories, worries and tenderness.
