Vladimir Pankov became the new artistic director of Lenkom. This position has not existed in the theater for more than five years - since the death of Mark Zakharov

Vladimir Pankov has become the artistic director of the Moscow Lenkom Mark Zakharov Theater, Interfax andVedomosti write, citing a representative of the Moscow Department of Culture.

Vladimir Pankov is an actor, musician, director, artistic director of the Center for Drama and Direction, as well as an honored artist.

Also, the position of president appeared in the theater - this was Mark Varshaver, who had been the director of Lenkom since 1987. This position, in turn, was taken by Dmitry Berestov, who previously headed the Theater in the South-West.

Previously, the artistic director of the theater was Mark Zakharov. After his death on September 28, 2019, the theater did not have an artistic director, and all management issues were resolved by Warshaver.

The Department of Culture stated that Varshaver, as president of the theater, “will continue to oversee its development,” and recalled that this practice had previously been used in curation. “The Satire Theater had a president for a long time, who was Alexander Shirvindt,” the department added.
