The Kursk Garrison Military Court sentenced Russian serviceman Stanislav Lopatin, accused of looting. According to Mediazona , this is the first known case since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in which a Russian serviceman was convicted in his homeland under this article.

The convict's lawyer, Igor Dushin, told the Mediazona correspondent that he allegedly had the wrong number. The publication emphasizes that Dushin’s number is listed on the website of the Kursk Region Bar Association.

It is noted that the case of serviceman Stanislav Lopatin came to court in November 2024, and he was sentenced on January 15.
Residents of the Kursk region previously spoke about the looting of Russian military personnel. The first reports of this appeared back in August 2024, after the Ukrainian Armed Forces invaded the region. On August 17, a video appeared of soldiers robbing a Megafon store in the village of Glushkovo. The Agency identified one of the robbers as a fighter from the Chechen battalion “Akhmat”. On August 23, as reported, the military twice destroyed the Wildberries warehouse in the village of Zvanoe, Glushkovsky district.
In November 2024, residents of the Korenevsky district recorded a video in which they showed looted houses, a gas station, and an auto parts store. The author of one of the videos walked through the floors of an apartment building and showed open doors.
Two local residents told the Agency that their fellow countrymen continue to suffer from looting, of which the Russian military is suspected. According to them, the military continues to rob them even after their collective appeal to Vladimir Putin. After mass indignation, the authorities nevertheless admitted the facts of looting, although before that they called reports about this “informational stuffing of the enemy.”
