The press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov once said that the presidential election in Russia is a “expensive bureaucratic procedure”. Indeed, no one chooses anyone on them, they are only designed to give the appearance of the legitimacy of the acting and irremovable power. This fully applies to Belarus, which for Russia is a kind of laboratory for the purity of experiments, then introduced on domestic unopulated expanses. The presidential election in Belarus January 26, 2025 is another laboratory experiment, during which Alexander Lukashenko was “re -elected” the head of the country for the seventh time.
The preliminary results of the presidential election were announced on January 27 at the final press conference of the CEC of Belarus. The Chairman of the CEC Igor Karpenko said that 85.69% of voters took part in the vote, of which 5,136,293 voters, or 86.82% cast their votes for Lukashenko. 213,277 voters, or 3.60%voted against all candidates. The remaining interest was divided by other four candidates. The final results of the CEC elections will summarize on February 3.
In 1994, forty -year -old Alexander Lukashenko - a promising politician and an irreconcilable fighter with corruption - won the election in the second round and for five years became the first president of the independent Republic of Belarus. In November 1996, he slightly corrected the country's constitution, increasing the powers of the president and relying his presidential term, so the countdown of his stay in this post was started again. Therefore, the second presidential elections in Belarus took place in 2001, and Lukashenko defeated them again in the first round, gaining 75.65 % of the vote.
Since then, every five years in Belarus has passed the “expensive bureaucratic procedure”, as a result of which President Lukashenko extended his powers, with each of the next time gaining slightly more votes in the first round than in the previous one. But during the sixth elections, the worked mechanism failed.
The people of Belarus are tired of their dictator, from the stuffy embrace of Russia, imposed by the Old Man (the official nickname Lukashenko, supported by the State Propaganda of Russia and Belarus), from political repression and hard force suppression of all forms of dissent and protest. In August 2020, immediately after the end of the voting in the presidential election, in which Lukashenko officially defeated with a result of 80.1%, daily mass protests that dispute this result began. According to foreign eczitpols, the election was won by the main rival Lukashenko Svetlana Tikhanovskaya , who scored 71.28%, and the Old Man received only 10.09% of the vote.
