Marco Rubio became temporary administrator USAID

Secretary of State Marco Rubio was appointed temporarily acting administrator of the US Agency for International Development (USAID). This was reported by the Russian Voice of America service.

A statement by the State Department, published on Monday, in particular, says:

"USAID has long deviated from its original mission - the responsible promotion of American interests abroad, and now it has become quite obvious that a significant part of the USAID financing does not correspond to the key national interests of the United States."

Secretary of State Marco Rubio, on a visit to San Salvador, called the agency "completely ineffective" and accused his employees of "unwillingness to answer simple questions" about programs.

Ilon Musk on Monday said that USAID "is not subject to restoration" and that Trump agreed that the agency should be closed.

Over the past week, dozens of employees of the agency have been sent on vacation. Last weekend, two high -ranking security officers were removed for refused to transfer the classified documents to employees of the government efficiency.

The creation of the department was declared President Donald Trump in November 2024 as part of his second term. The Department is headed by entrepreneur Ilon Musk.
