All these diplomatic body movements do not allow double interpretation: apparently, “progress” - after Trump entered the post, is really, and it is to a large extent connected with its active actions.

True, in parallel, commentators also multiplied the number of skeptical estimates of the “bulldozer tactics” of the American president in different directions-not only in Russian-Ukrainian.

Conflict situations with Canada and Mexico, Panama and Denmark (on the "Greenland" issue), China and the European Union, almost daily made loud foreign policy decisions, creating the "field of tension", coupled with the equally violent stream of "internal" decrees, can really give reason for skepticism.

But the politicians are not judged by the words, but according to the results of actions-and in this case the most important will be the answer to the question whether Trump will be able, as promised (not in a day, so at least six months) to stop the active phase of the Russian-Ukrainian confrontation and achieve the ceasefire and total exchange of prisoners and civilians.

As for the “bulldozer tactics” of Trump and his role to the destroyer of the prevailing institutions and the rules that have been valid for decades, for all the specificity of his behavior it is impossible not to state that the actions of these institutions according to these rules (and not only in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, although it is The most striking example) turned out to be completely ineffective.

In science fiction - and not only in the Soviet and Russian - at one time, stories were popular about powerful international structures, “committees” and “security services”, which have one task in the world: to fight terrorists, extremists and separatists who miraculously, miraculously, But survived on the planet. And brave paratroopers, inspectors and residents, as they can, solve this problem - sometimes, losing at the beginning, but invariably winning at the end and saving the world.

That's just reality is completely different.

And we see how almost all existing international institutions are powerless over and over again in a situation where one of the parties to the conflict is a country - a permanent member of the UN Security Council, which has the right to a veto.

And where this right is not - in the General Assembly of the UN, the decisions made are not at all obligatory for execution.

As a result, neither the Security Council, nor the General Assembly, nor the OSCE, nor the Council of Europe, nor PACE, nor other structures work as restraining mechanisms that can resolve arising crises or prevent their appearance. And the question of their reforming or creating new institutions is present somewhere on the periphery of discussions, but is not seriously discussed.

The situation in Ukraine is not the only example of glaring inefficiency of international bureaucracy: the situation in the Middle East is no less clear. Where the so-called Bapor-“Middle Eastern agency to help Palestinian refugees”, which has long turned into a nursery of open anti-Semitism-spends more than a billion dollars in gas for “help”, which for some reason does not turn into schools, hospitals, products and for decades for decades. Medicines, and in tunnels, missiles, weapons warehouses, terrorist training programs and school textbooks, where they call for the murders of Jews.

Part of the “employees” of the Bapor was directly convicted of participation in the attack on October 7, 2023, and in his premises, as it turned out, hostages were held by Palestinian terrorists. But all this does not prevent the agency’s leadership from repeating about its most important humanitarian mission and denounce the “blockade in gas”.

Note that, in the presence of a border with the fraternal Muslim Egypt, it is not very logical to talk about the “blockade”, but it is well known that the Egyptians practically do not let anyone through this border and categorically refuse to take on the residence of “suffering Palestinians” from Gaza.

And for some reason, this does not cause any protests of the “progressive public”, for which the ideas of “political correctness”, “protection of oppressed” and “decolonization” have long and confidently turned into moral relativism, support of terrorists and anti-Semitic actions (in this regard, the intention of American looks logical The president is deported as supporters of the terrorism of those foreign students who drowned for Hamas and Palestine from the River to the Sea) ...

Yes, there are no guarantees that the actions on top of previous institutions will be - and primarily in Ukraine - effective, especially in the long term.

But the actions within their framework, as already mentioned, did not certainly help - and maybe a different tactic will help, no matter how criticized it.

And then - inevitably - you will have to seriously think about other institutions ...

As for the main issue of today, there is an increase in the chances of making a decision to cease and negotiations. But the window of opportunities for making this decision is quite short. It looks like it opened at the end of 2022 - but it “slammed” without a result.
