The head of the administration of the Baltic city district of Sergey Melnikov and his deputy Maxim Kovalenko were detained on suspicion of bribery. This was reported by the SC SK in the Kaliningrad region.
According to the investigation, Kovalenko gave Melnikov a bribe in the amount of at least 575 thousand rubles for “general protection and connivance on the service”.
Melnikova is suspected under the article on receiving a large -scale bribe (paragraph “c” of part 5 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), Kovalenko - in the giving bribes (clause “B” of part 4 of Article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Each of them faces up to 12 years in prison.
